Diageo Wins Parallel Import Battle in Russia
The Moscow District Federal Commercial Court recently upheld the Ninth Commercial Appeals Court May 2012 decision against company Da-Link, which imported Diageo’s Guinness beer into Russia without authorization.
The defendant was ordered to pay a EUR 5,050 (USD 6,200) fine and to cease the import of the beer without the prior consent of the trademark owner.
Diageo, headquartered in London, is one of the world’s leading producers and distributors of alcoholic beverages.
